Australian Kodály Certificate: 2025

New offering- Pilot program for Generalist educators

The Australian Kodály Certificate (AKC) is the only Australian fully accredited and nationally recognised program of teacher training for music teachers in the Kodály approach to music education. In 2025, this course will again be delivered in two 5 day blocks. Please refer to course brochure for detailed information.

Block 1

Week 10 term 2 SA June 30- July 4th ( teachers who apply through Music Education Startegy will have TRT paid for 3 days- schools to cover 2 days!)

Independent schools- this should fall into your PD week!

Kodály SA will offer Early Years level 1 - Primary Level 1 in 2025

NEW! Kodály SA is also running a pilot program for generalist educators.

This course has been developed specially as a follow on from the Foundation Courses and is offered in collaboration with the Music Education Strategy of the Department for Education. It is for educators who want to go deeper in their musical journey and incorporate music as a tool for learning in the classroom. This course will run parallel to block 2 of AKC- week 2 October Holidays- starting on Tuesday and ending on Saturday.

To complete the full level AKC course participants undertake 60 hours of study:
Musicianship (15hrs), Pedagogy (15hrs), Practicum (5hrs), Cultural Materials (5hrs), Choir (10hrs) and Conducting(10hrs).

Full level Generalist pilot program is 30hours of study Musical Readiness (7.5h) Musical immersion and Musical leadership (12.5h) Pedagogy (10h)

Block 1 - Monday 30 June to Friday 4 July, 8.30am – 4.30pm (Term 2, week 10).

Block 2 - Tuesday 7 October– Saturday 11 October, 8.30am – 4.30pm; October school holidays).

Early Years 1

Block 1 - Monday 30 June to Friday 4 July, 11.30am – 3pm; only musicianship and choir face to face (Term 2, week 10).

Block 2 - Tuesday 7 October– Saturday 11 October, 8.30am – 5pm; October school holidays, (full face to face).
